Originally established as a Cistercian convent in the 12th century, the site was later transformed into a prestigious residence. The current structure reflects an eclectic architectural style and has functioned as a public museum since 2003.

The house museum consists of 14 furnished rooms that preserve original 19th-century interiors and scientific collections. It serves as a venue for international scientific conferences and is home to a renowned international physics school.

The extensive botanical garden contains a variety of exotic plant species and stretches along the lakefront. The site is recognized as a Cultural Heritage Site and operates as a museum, botanical garden, and conference center.
