潘塔立克大墓地

This site is home to a massive necropolis containing over 4,000 rock-cut chamber tombs. These burials date primarily from the 13th to the 7th centuries BC, representing the transition between the Bronze Age and the Iron Age. The tombs are carved directly into limestone cliffs, a site selection originally made for defensive advantages.

Beyond the burial grounds, the area contains evidence of ancient settlements, including the remains of a palace and Byzantine rock-cut dwellings and churches. The site is of significant historical and archaeological interest for understanding early cultures, specifically the Pantalica Culture.

The area is open to the public and is situated within a 3,700-hectare protected natural reserve established in 1997. The landscape is characterized by karst rock formations and diverse flora, such as oriental plane trees and oleander. The surrounding environment supports various fauna, including birds of prey, reptiles, and amphibians in its clear waters.
