Dačice Chateau

Originally constructed as a Renaissance structure before 1591 by the Kraiger von Kraigk family, this national cultural monument underwent several significant architectural transformations. Over the centuries, the building evolved through Baroque, Empire, and Neo-Classical reconstructions, with additional Art Nouveau and Baroque Revival elements. The chateau was expropriated in 1945 and currently serves as a public cultural site.

The interiors are restored to their authentic 19th and early 20th-century appearance, showcasing the history of the Dalberg family. These representative rooms contain original furniture and collections of objets d’art that illustrate a blend of art and science. The chateau is one of the few historical residences in the country that remains open to the public for tours of its preserved living spaces.

The premises house the Municipal Museum and Gallery Dačice, providing further historical context and exhibition spaces. The site is recognized for its well-preserved state and its role as a significant example of residential architecture, reflecting the lifestyle and aesthetic preferences of its former noble inhabitants.
