Iconic Mountain Huts
The Krkonoše range features a historic network of mountain huts, known as 'boudy,' situated along the Czech-Polish border. These structures range from 18th-century timber shelters to modern alpine hotels, often positioned at altitudes exceeding 1,300 meters. Located along the main ridge trails near peaks like Sněžka, these huts provide essential refuge, traditional regional cuisine, and a vital infrastructure for high-altitude hikers and cross-country skiers.
Hotel Špindlerova bouda
A historic mountain hotel located on the main ridge at 1,198 meters. It serves as a key border crossing point and trailhead between the Czech Republic and Poland, offering regional cuisine.
Výrovka
High-altitude hut situated at 1,363 meters in the saddle between Luční hora and Zadní Planina. It provides accommodation and dining approximately 2.5 kilometers from Luční bouda.
Strzecha Akademicka
One of the oldest huts in the range, located on the Polish side of the main ridge. This traditional wooden structure, formerly known as Hampelbaude, sits above the Mały Staw glacial cirque.
Dom Śląski
A mountain hotel located at the foot of Sněžka at 1,400 meters. It sits at a major trail junction on the Polish side, providing Wi-Fi and essential services for ridge hikers.
Martinova bouda
Private mountain hotel in the central Krkonoše originating from a historic shepherd's hut. It offers high-altitude accommodation and regional dining with views of the surrounding peaks.
Nad Łomniczką
Polish shelter located at 1,002 meters in the Łomniczka Valley. It is unique for having no electricity, serving as a rustic rest stop on the trail leading up to Sněžka.
Moravská bouda
A smaller mountain hotel and hut located below the main ridges. It provides accommodation and dining facilities for hikers exploring the central part of the mountain range.
Schronisko Samotnia
Historic Polish timber hut situated at 1,195 meters on the edge of the Mały Staw glacial lake. It is noted for its traditional architecture and scenic location within the glacial cirque.
Husova bouda
Known locally as 'Husovka,' this mountain hut provides accommodation and dining services. It serves as a base for hikers and skiers in the vicinity of Pec pod Sněžkou.
Schronisko Odrodzenie
Large Polish mountain shelter located near the Špindlerova Pass at 1,236 meters. Rebuilt in the late 1920s, it sits directly on the Main Sudeten Trail near the Czech border.
Jelenka
A timber mountain hut located at 1,260 meters on the ridge between Pomezní Boudy and Sněžka. It offers refreshments and basic lodging for hikers traversing the eastern ridge.
Chata Dvoračky
Historic mountain farm and hut dating back to 1707. Situated at 1,140 meters, it serves as a major trail crossroads in the western part of the Krkonoše range.
