Junín Essentials

Junín's landscape spans the high Andean plateau to the lush central jungle. This selection includes Lake Junin, the largest lake situated entirely within Peru, and the archaeological remains of the Wari culture at Warivilca. The region is home to two UNESCO Biosphere Reserves—Bosques de Neblina and Avireri-Vraem—protecting diverse cloud forest ecosystems. Key landmarks include the glacial pass of Abra Huaytapallana, the towering Puya raimondii plants of Nor Yauyos Cochas, and the monument marking the geographic center of Peru.

Lake Junin or Chinchaycocha is the largest lake entirely within Peruvian territory.
