Stunning Viewpoints & Cliffs

The Dhofar region features a diverse range of geological formations, from the 211-meter-deep Tawi Atayr sinkhole to the 2,100-meter peaks of Jebel Samhan. Taiq Sinkhole

One of the largest sinkholes in the world by volume, measuring approximately 100 million cubic meters. It features a massive cavern system and serves as a natural drainage point for several surrounding wadis.

Wadi Ayun

A remote valley known for its permanent turquoise water pools and smooth white limestone formations. The site offers views of deep canyons and is accessible via the road to the western Dhofar mountains.

Ubar

An archaeological site identified as a legendary frankincense trading hub. The ruins reveal a fortress that collapsed into a limestone sinkhole, earning it the nickname "Atlantis of the Sands."

Cliffs of Mughsayl

High limestone cliffs offering panoramic views of the Arabian Sea. The site is adjacent to the Marneef Cave and the natural blowholes where seawater erupts through the rock.

Jbl smhan

The highest mountain range in Dhofar, reaching 2,100 meters. It is a protected nature reserve and a critical habitat for the rare Arabian leopard, often featuring a "sea of clouds" during the monsoon.

Tawi Atayr viewpoint

A viewing platform overlooking one of the deepest bird-inhabited sinkholes in the world. The limestone shaft drops 211 meters and is surrounded by lush vegetation during the Khareef season.

Shaat

A coastal viewpoint situated roughly 1,000 meters above sea level. It features a sheer vertical drop into the Indian Ocean and a nearby forest area that becomes mist-covered during the monsoon.

Al Baleed Archaeological Site

A UNESCO World Heritage site featuring the ruins of a 12th-century frankincense port. The park includes an archaeological museum and views over a freshwater lagoon.

Tawi Atayr Sinkhole

Known as the "Well of Birds," this 211-meter-deep limestone formation is one of the largest in Oman and serves as a nesting site for numerous bird species.
