Poloniny National Park Essentials
Poloniny National Park, situated at the borders of Slovakia, Poland, and Ukraine, preserves the UNESCO-listed primeval beech forests of the Bukovské vrchy. This remote region features unique 'poloniny' mountain meadows, the massive Starina reservoir, and some of Europe’s darkest night skies within the Dark Sky Park. Cultural highlights include 18th-century wooden churches and the Kremenec tri-border point. It remains one of the few places in Europe where wild European bison roam freely in their natural habitat.
