Port Stephens features diverse coastal formations within Tomaree National Park and the Worimi Conservation Lands. The landscape is defined by the 161-meter volcanic peak of Mount Tomaree and the Southern Hemisphere's largest moving sand dunes at Stockton Beach. These natural sites include tidal sandbars like Fingal Spit, historic World War II coastal defense ruins, and protected marine sanctuary zones along secluded white-sand beaches like Zenith and Box Beach.

Tomaree

A 161-meter peak providing 360-degree views of the Tasman Sea and offshore islands. The summit track includes preserved World War II gun emplacements and observation posts used for coastal defense.

Stockton Beach

Stretching 32 kilometers, this beach contains the massive Stockton Sand Dunes within the Worimi Conservation Lands. It is home to the MV Sygna shipwreck and the historic Tin City fishing settlement.

Zenith Beach

A secluded beach located at the southern base of Tomaree Head. It is a designated marine sanctuary zone within Tomaree National Park, characterized by steep coastal cliffs and high-energy surf.

Fingal Spit

A narrow sandbar connecting the mainland to Shark Island. The spit is traversable on foot during low tide, providing a path to the historic Port Stephens Lighthouse constructed in 1862.

Box Beach

An east-facing beach in Tomaree National Park framed by volcanic rock headlands. It is known for its heavy shore break, making it a prominent location for bodyboarding and surfing.
