Orthodox Heritage

Monastery of Varosh

A 12th-century monastery complex built into the volcanic rocks above the Varosh neighborhood. It features the Church of St. Archangel Michael and houses a marble column containing one of the oldest Cyrillic inscriptions, dating to 994 AD.
