Central Squares

Pristina's central pedestrian corridor is a series of interconnected squares honoring figures from Kosovo's history and international diplomacy. Stretching from the Parliament building to the Grand Hotel, these zones include Mother Teresa Boulevard, the city's primary social hub, and Skënderbeu Square, which hosts official state ceremonies. These public spaces provide a continuous car-free environment through the heart of the capital, serving as venues for seasonal markets, concerts, and civic gatherings.

Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu Square

Features a large equestrian statue of the 15th-century Albanian national hero. Located between the Parliament building and the National Theatre, it serves as a primary site for official state ceremonies.

Ibrahim Rugova Square

Dedicated to the first President of Kosovo, this paved area includes a bronze statue of Rugova and a central fountain, connecting the government district with the main pedestrian boulevard.

Mother Teresa Square

The city's central pedestrian boulevard, lined with cafes, terraces, and commercial buildings. This car-free zone acts as the primary social artery of Pristina, hosting street performers and seasonal festivals.

Zahir Pajaziti Square

A large plaza at the southern end of the pedestrian zone featuring a statue of the Kosovo Liberation Army commander. The area is a frequent venue for concerts, open-air markets, and public screenings.

Madeleine Albright Square

A public space featuring a bronze bust dedicated to the former U.S. Secretary of State, commemorating her diplomatic role during the 1990s.
