Razavi Khorasan Essentials

Razavi Khorasan Province contains some of Iran’s most significant historical and engineering feats. This selection highlights the UNESCO-listed Qasaba Qanat, a 2,500-year-old subterranean water system, and the 12th-century Khosrogerd Minaret, a solitary Silk Road landmark. The list includes the blue-tiled tomb of the Sufi poet Attar-e-Neyshaburi in Nishapur and the Haruniyeh Dome, the sole remaining structure of ancient Tus. Completing the collection is the mountain resort of Torghabeh, noted for its traditional crafts and proximity to Mashhad.

A UNESCO World Heritage site in Gonabad dating back to the Achaemenid era. This ancient subterranean irrigation system is one of the world's deepest and oldest, featuring tunnels reaching depths of over 300 meters.

A mountain resort town located near Mashhad, known for its riverside gardens, traditional wickerwork crafts, and local cuisine. It serves as a significant recreational area within the Binalud mountain range.

Haruniyeh Dome

A 14th-century brick structure and the only surviving monument of the ancient city of Tus. The square-based building likely served as a tomb or a theological school and is often linked to the philosopher Al-Ghazali.
