Rovaniemi's landscape is defined by an extensive network of waterways, ranging from the vast Kemijoki River to secluded forest basins. This collection highlights 25 lakes and ponds within the municipality, including Norvajärvi, which houses the German Soldier Cemetery, and Vikajärvi, a primary gateway to the Arctic Circle Hiking Area. These sites offer typical Lapland geography characterized by boreal forests and peatlands, providing essential habitats for local birdlife and locations for traditional ice fishing.
