Square Kauri

A 1,200-year-old kauri tree notable for its unusual rectangular trunk. Located on the Tapu-Coroglen Road, it is one of the few mature kauri trees to survive the logging era in the Coromandel.

Thames School of Mines Museum

Established in 1885, this is one of New Zealand's best-preserved 19th-century technical schools. It houses an extensive mineral collection and original equipment used to train miners during the Hauraki gold rush.

An industrial heritage site featuring an operational 19th-century stamper battery and an underground gold mine. Guided tours demonstrate the historic quartz-crushing process used to extract gold.
