Religious Landmarks

Volgograd’s spiritual landscape reflects its evolution from the 16th-century Tsaritsyn fortress to the post-war reconstruction. Hram Ioanna Predteci

Originally built in 1589 by Cossacks, this was the first church of the Tsaritsyn fortress. The modern stone structure stands on the site of the original wooden building near the Volga embankment.
