Established in 1982 and managed by The Bahamas National Trust, this 40-acre protected area features one of the longest underwater cave systems in the world. The environment encompasses diverse ecosystems, including pine forests, mangrove swamps, and the white sands of Gold Rock Beach.
The site is designated as an Important Bird Area and serves as a habitat for various species of birds and crustaceans. It holds significant historical value as a former pre-Columbian Lucayan settlement. Archaeological findings include burial sites discovered within the cave systems.
Infrastructure consists of nature trails and boardwalks that navigate through the mangroves. Beach facilities are available on-site. The park is open to the public for exploration of its natural biodiversity and historical heritage.
