Venetian Walls

Constructed in 1567 by the Republic of Venice, these defensive fortifications are a prime example of Renaissance military architecture. The walls are characterized by a distinct circular layout and remain largely intact. They are recognized as some of the best-preserved structures of their kind in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The defensive system incorporates eleven bastions and three historical gates. This 16th-century design reflects the military engineering standards of the period, emphasizing geometric symmetry and defensive strength.

The fortifications are a significant historical monument and a major tourist attraction. The structure encompasses the old city center and serves as a prominent example of 16th-century urban defense.
