Písek District: Absolute Essentials

The Písek District features a collection of significant architectural and engineering landmarks. The 13th-century Písek Stone Bridge stands as the oldest preserved Gothic bridge in the Czech Republic. Zvíkov Castle, situated at the confluence of the Vltava and Otava rivers, represents a key site of royal Czech history. Modern engineering is represented by the Žďákov Bridge, a significant steel arch structure spanning the Orlík Reservoir. Cultural sites include the early 20th-century New Synagogue and the 19th-century Church of St. Bartholomew in Milevsko.
