Lednice Unmissables

Lednice forms the heart of the UNESCO-listed Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape. This collection features the Neo-Gothic Lednice Château and its 1845 cast-iron greenhouse. The surrounding English-style park contains unique architectural follies, including a 60-meter Moorish Revival minaret and the artificial ruin of Janohrad. The area is defined by its sophisticated water management system, connecting various Romantic-style pavilions like the Temple of Apollo and the Border Chateau, which historically marked the boundary between Moravia and Lower Austria.

Lednice Château

Minaret

Built around the year 1800, the minaret now serves as an outlook tower and makes an excellent walk destination from Chateau Lednice.

A meticulously maintained formal French garden transitioning into an expansive English-style landscape park, featuring a sophisticated system of ponds and islands.

Janohrad Castle

An artificial Gothic ruin built between 1801 and 1808. Designed by Joseph Hardtmuth, it served as a hunting lodge and gathering place for the nobility during hunts.

Greenhouse

This greenhouse was built in 1845, covered in tens of thousands tiny glass pieces carefully layered to build a magnificent structure.

A Classicist pavilion built in the early 19th century on the northern shore of the Prostřední pond, used historically for aristocratic social gatherings and waterfowl hunting.

Apollonův chrám

An Empire-style temple built in the early 19th century overlooking the Mlýnský pond. The facade features a prominent relief depicting the Greek god Apollo in a sun chariot.

Hraniční zámeček

A Classicist summer palace built directly on the former border between the Margraviate of Moravia and the Archduchy of Lower Austria, as indicated by the inscription on its facade.

Pastvisko u Lednice

A nature reserve comprising a large wetland area and alluvial meadows. It serves as a significant nesting site and migration stop for various species of waterfowl.
