Das U.S. Census Bureau hat bei der Volkszählung 2020 eine Einwohnerzahl von 182.760 ermittelt. Das Stadtgebiet hat eine Größe von 93,3 km². Nach Miami und Hialeah ist Fort Lauderdale die drittgrößte Stadt der Metropolregion Miami.
