This medieval fortress dates back to the 11th century, with significant structural modifications made throughout the following centuries. Positioned on a rocky spur, it served as a strategic military base during the Hundred Years' War and was recognized as a prominent center for courtly art. The site was classified as a historic monument in 1840 and 1946.
The remaining vestiges include a round tower, a section of a keep, and the foundations of a chapel and residence. Following archaeological excavations and restoration efforts, portions of the ruins are accessible to the public during the summer months.
