This medieval castle ruin dates back to approximately 1300 and features Gothic architecture. Originally built as a strategic defensive fort on a limestone cliff, the structure overlooks the Váh river valley. It is recognized as a National Cultural Monument.

Following extensive reconstruction, the site is managed by the Považské múzeum and serves as a museum showcasing regional history and heritage. A significant historical association involves Žofia Bosniaková, a notable figure in the castle's history. A replica of her mummy is displayed in the castle chapel.

The castle is open to the public and functions as a significant landscape landmark. The interior spaces house various expositions detailing the history of the region.
