Cetinje Monastery

Founded in 1484, this practicing Serbian Orthodox monastery serves as the seat of the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral. It functions as a central site for Montenegrin spirituality and history, representing the region's religious and cultural aspirations.

The monastery houses several highly significant Christian relics, including the right hand of John the Baptist, particles of the True Cross, and the icon of the Virgin of Philerme. An on-site museum and treasury feature an extensive collection of manuscripts, ancient printed books, and various church artifacts.

This site also serves as the burial place for prominent historical figures such as Prince Danilo and Duke Mirko. As a practicing religious institution and a protected cultural heritage site, the complex remains a primary monument of historical and architectural importance.
