Reformer's wall

This 100-meter-long memorial wall was inaugurated in 1909 to mark the 400th anniversary of the birth of John Calvin and the 350th anniversary of the founding of the Academy. Designed by architects Alphonse Laverrière and Jean Taillens, the monument is built directly into the old city fortifications and is wheelchair accessible.

The structure features massive statues and bas-reliefs honoring central figures of the Protestant Reformation. The central group includes figures such as John Calvin, a theologian and founder of the Academy, and William Farel, who was instrumental in the movement.

In addition to religious leaders, the wall depicts political figures and historical milestones that influenced the spread of Calvinism. The monument serves as a significant historical and political landmark, detailing the movement's history through its large-scale sculpture work.
