This 11-kilometer-long peninsula is a Grand Site de France and a classified natural monument characterized by dramatic limestone formations and a coastline eroded by the Atlantic Ocean. The area is a protected nature reserve preserving a unique ecological landscape that includes rare indigenous flora, such as sea grapes, and various hardy coastal vegetation.
A scenic hiking trail traverses the site, connecting diverse environments including cliffs, beaches, and wetlands known as salines, which serve as a habitat for local birdlife. At the highest point, Morne Pavillon, a large summit cross provides panoramic views of the ocean and the nearby islands of La Désirade and Petite-Terre.
The site attracts approximately 500,000 people annually. Marine life, including whales, can occasionally be observed from the shore. The peninsula is open to the public and serves as a significant historical and cultural heritage site.
