This natural attraction is the largest natural lake, situated in a volcanic depression. It is recognized as a RAMSAR Site of International Importance due to its ecological value as a wetland and its significant biodiversity, particularly its rich variety of fish and bird species. The area is open to the public for exploration and nature-based activities.

The surrounding landscape includes the PANACAM area, which provides a natural environment for birdwatching. Other nearby features include the Pulhapanzak Waterfall, various eco-parks, and the archaeological site of Los Naranjos. Kayaking, hiking, and fishing are common activities conducted within the area.
