Valley of Castles

This dry gorge is characterized by unique sedimentary red sandstone rock formations shaped more than 12 million years ago through wind and water erosion. As a prominent section of the national park, the landscape is defined by the ancient geological processes that created its current form.

The area features massive rock towers and complex labyrinths that resemble castle architecture. These formations are primarily composed of clay and sand, creating a distinct environment of geological interest. Scenic viewpoints are located throughout the area, offering perspectives on the unique sedimentary structures.

The terrain includes various hiking paths suitable for exploration and trekking. The site is a protected National Monument situated along the Charyn River and is open for public access and nature-focused study.
