Designed by the architect Nicodemus Tessin the Younger, this Baroque church was inaugurated in 1744. It is recognized as a significant component of the Naval Port of Karlskrona, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The interior features a baptismal font from the time of its inauguration and bells dating back to 1691. The building also houses a historical organ and a carillon. Between 2015 and 2018, the structure underwent an extensive interior renovation to create a modern, multifunctional space.

The updated interior includes design furniture, underfloor heating, and advanced lighting technology. As an architectural ensemble, the church serves as a prominent example of baroque architecture.
