Wallenstein’s Houses

Built between 1678 and 1681, these houses are the oldest preserved residential structures in the city. Originally constructed as dwellings for drapers, the complex consists of three buildings featuring traditional half-timbered and semi-timbered architecture. They are recognized as an example of the Upper Lusatian house style, characterized by distinctive cross-timbered construction.

Now a protected Cultural Heritage Site, the buildings were saved from demolition in the 1950s. The site is currently maintained by the Secondary Industrial School of Construction. While historically used as weavers' residences, they now serve as a significant architectural monument showcasing 17th-century craftsmanship.
