The original stone bridge dates back to the Ottoman period, with historical records attributing its construction to either the Great Vizier Mehmed-paša Sokolović in the 16th century or to the endowment of Vizier Mustafa Pasha Bušatlija in the 18th century. For centuries, it served as the only stone crossing over the Morača River. The historic structure was destroyed in 1944 during World War II.
The current bridge was built in 1947 and is also known as the Vaka Đurović bridge. It is a modern concrete structure that remains a significant cultural landmark and a recognized Cultural Heritage Site. The bridge is a well-known site for sports competitions and traditional high-diving events, such as the Youth Cup held in July.
