Botanical Garden Liberec

Established in 1876, this is the oldest botanical garden in the country. It has occupied its current location since 1895 and features a unique crystal-cluster greenhouse complex designed by architects Pavel Švancer and Pavel Vaněček. The garden maintains a collection of approximately 7,500 plant species distributed across indoor and outdoor exhibitions.

The facility includes a complex of nine greenhouses and specialized pavilions. Notable collections focus on carnivorous plants, orchids, cacti, and succulents. A dedicated pavilion houses the Victoria amazonica water lily, while other sections feature arid climate plants and tropical species. The site also includes aquariums and specialized displays for exotic flora.

The institution is open to the public and serves as a significant center for botanical research, conservation, and education. It operates a specialized center for the protection of endangered species (CITES). The garden provides a scientific and cultural environment focused on the preservation of diverse botanical collections from around the world.
