National Museum of Kosovo

Established in 1949, this national institution is housed in a building constructed in 1889 in an Austro-Hungarian architectural style. It serves as a primary repository for cultural heritage and is a designated cultural heritage site.

The museum includes four main departments: archaeology, ethnography, history, and natural science. Two exhibition floors display artifacts ranging from the Illyrian, Dardanian, and Roman periods to more recent history involving the Kosovo War and the country's independence. An archaeological park is also part of the complex.

In addition to permanent collections, the museum hosts educational and temporary exhibitions. Past displays have included the Racial Diagnosis: Gypsy exhibition, which focused on the stories of Roma and Sinti Holocaust victims. The facility is wheelchair accessible and open to the public.
