The settlement represents an exceptionally well-preserved example of an Aceramic Neolithic community, occupied from the 7th to the 4th millennium B.C. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it serves as a key archaeological record for the evolution of human society and the spread of civilization from the Near East to the Mediterranean. The site is considered one of the most important prehistoric locations in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The architectural remains consist of unique circular stone dwellings, also known as tholoi. These structures formed an organized functional society that featured complex architectural systems. The site includes both original ruins and five reconstructed cylindrical dwellings, which contain replicas of ancient household objects to illustrate prehistoric living conditions.

This collective settlement provides scientific data on early sedentary communities and organized social structures. It is the most prominent of approximately 20 similar Neolithic aceramic settlements discovered in the region. The site is accessible for the study and observation of its ancient household layouts and fortifications.
