Spanning 83 hectares and reaching the Atlantic Ocean, this is the largest urban park in Portugal. Designed by landscape architect Sidónio Pardal and opened in 1993, the park features a sophisticatedly crafted rural landscape. It is the first and only urban park under local administration to achieve EMAS registration for environmental performance improvement.
The grounds include approximately 11 kilometers of paths, several lakes, and diverse flora and fauna. The design creates peaceful interiors within a densely populated urban area. A notable and rare feature is the direct connection to the beach.
On-site facilities include the Pavilhão da Água, the Sea Life Center, and the Queimódromo event space. Areas for dining, sports, and environmental education are also available within the park's boundaries.
