Established in 2010, this non-profit organization consists of over 500 submerged, life-size sculptures distributed across multiple galleries. These installations function as an artificial reef system designed to promote coral growth and provide an alternative destination to reduce human impact on natural reefs.
The collection features works by Jason deCaires Taylor alongside various other artists. The sculptures are crafted from pH-neutral materials that encourage the colonization of coral and other marine life, effectively integrating contemporary art with the marine ecosystem.
Observation of the statues and developing reef structures is possible through scuba diving, snorkeling, and glass-bottom boat tours within the national marine park.
