Recognized by the Guinness World Records in 2005, this state-owned facility houses the largest wine collection in the world, containing millions of bottles. The site consists of a massive network of underground limestone galleries stretching for hundreds of kilometers, with over 55 kilometers of tunnels currently in use for wine storage and aging.
The subterranean galleries maintain ideal conditions for aging high-quality wines and are organized like an underground city. The passages are designated as streets named after various grape varieties. This unique environment includes specialized storage areas and a subterranean restaurant for dining and tasting events.
Established in 1997, the winery utilizes former limestone mines to create its vast cellar system. Guided tours of the gallery network and wine tasting experiences are conducted within the underground complex.
