This historic château dates back to the 12th century and has undergone multiple reconstructions following periods of conflict. The current architectural structure reflects building phases from the 15th, 17th, and 18th centuries. While the castle is partially surrounded by a moat and has been restored to house administrative services for the International Division of Prehistory, the interior of the building is not open to the public.
The extensive grounds and English-style gardens surrounding the monument are freely accessible. These parklands feature mature trees, a decorative vegetable garden, and a labyrinth. The site is recognized as a National Monument and serves as a space for regional heritage.
