One of the oldest churches in London was founded in the 7th century by the Saxons. Many notable people are connected with the church and not just Londoners - William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania, was baptized here in 1644, and the 6th President of the United States, John Quincy Adams, married here in 1797.
The crypt contains historic remains of the Roman building which used to stand here and a small museum devoted to the history of the church. It is also believed that the heart of Richard I the Lion Heart was buried somewhere here!
