The largest museum in Southeast Asia contains collections dedicated to Thai history and art dating back to Neolithic times.
The museum contains three exhibition halls - the ceremonial Siwamokhaphiman Hall boasts the precious King Ram Khamhaeng Inscription, which is listed on UNESCO's Memory of the World Programme. Buddhaisawan Chapel houses murals of Buddha and the Red House features decorative arts and an ethnological collection.
