Built in 1986, this architectural gem and a famous landmark of Reykjavik will take your breath away.
Hallgrímskirkja is the largest church in the country and also one of its tallest buildings.
The architecture serves as a splendid example of the Expressionist style and it is said that it was designed to resemble the flow of lava. Highlights of the interior include a huge pipe organ and a beautifully decorated pulpit.
With its 73-metre-high tower, the church is easily visible from any part of the city. The tower can be accessed and it offers magnificent views of the entire Reykjavik.
Tower closes 30 minutes before the rest of the church, it is also closed Sun: 10:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
The church may close without notice due to special events like weddings or funerals.
