The marble Renaissance church, which was finished in 1489, is off the beaten track as far as the major Venetian sights are concerned. It was designed by Pietro Lombardo and the construction took seven years. The interior is decorated with paintings and statues and dominated by the large staircase leading to the main altar.
There are not so many tourists there and you can enjoy the picturesque little church in a fairly calm atmosphere. Since it is an active church it might be closed for the public when some religious events are organised there. Also, the respectful and quiet behaviour is expected from the visitors.
