Fairfield is the county seat of and the only village/hamlet in Camas County, Idaho and cannot be defined as a "city" because it does not meet the population requirement. The population was 410 at the time of 2010 census, nearly half of the rural county's population. The village was featured in a season two episode of The X-Files, where an investigation at a fictitious zoo took place.
