This church has been a place of reflection and silence for more than 1000 years. It was built in 853, in the same spot where an abbey for aristocratic women used to be. It is mainly famous for its stained glass windows created by the well-known Marc Chagall, and the rosette in the south transept.
It has elements from both Romanesque and Gothic architectonic styles. Take a look at the biggest organ in the canton of Zurich with 5793 pipes or the statue of Katharina von Zimmern. The church also houses a museum in the crypt, where you can learn about the Reformation in Zurich.
This church sees about 500,000 people every year. You are not allowed to take pictures inside, but you can buy postcards and other souvenirs in the church's gift shop. It is very close to the main train station, but you can also get there by tram lines 3, 4, 10 and 15.
