Visit this pedestrian mall to experience neon and laser light show that has no match in the rest of America. Every time a show starts, all buildings around turn their lights off.
The show, visited by more than 17 million people a year, is called the Viva Vision Light Show. It runs on a large LED display canopy, which forms the street's roof all the way from Main Street to Fourth Street. Upgraded in 2012, the video screen is 1500 feet long, which makes it the largest screen in the U.S. One video takes approximately 5-7 minutes.
The mall is a lively place, popular among street performers. You can also listen to free live bands here. However, it is also very crowded all day and night long and some visitors complain that, especially during the night, the place becomes children-inappropriate and feels unsafe, with a lot of beggars and drunks.
Viva Vision light shows last about 6 minutes and run daily on hourly basis from 6 pm to 8 pm/1 am (depending on the season).
