The memorial park is dedicated to the victims of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima in 1945. Designed by the Japanese Architect Kenzō Tange, it features monuments, museums, and lecture halls reminding its visitors the horrors of nuclear warfare. Hiroshima Peace Memorial Ceremony takes place here every August 6 (in front of the Memorial Cenotaph).
