It is named after the Boulevard de la Tour-Maubourg, which in turn is named after Victor de Fay de La Tour-Maubourg, a general in the First Empire and Minister of War after the Restoration. He also served as the governor of the nearby Hôtel des Invalides from 1821 to 1830.
