Lake Point Tower

Local nameLake Point Tower
LocationNear North Side, Chicago

Although not publicly accessible, this residential skyscraper is one of the most iconic sights of Chicago.

Built specifically to withstand furious winds, the Lake Point Tower's creators George Schipporeit and John Heinrich got inspired by Mies van der Rohe's design of a glass-curtained skyscraper that was supposed to stand in Berlin. The structure was finished in 1968, making it the tallest building in the world at that time.

The residents have the privilege to see the beautiful skyline of Chicago, with nothing serving as an obstacle in the view, since it stands alone near the Lake Michigan. There are also numerous restaurants, a grocery store, pools, spa, and even a dentist.

The building's unique shape and look is surely a sight to behold for architecture lovers.
