Liré is a former commune in the Maine-et-Loire department in western France. On 15 December 2015, it was merged into the new commune Orée-d'Anjou. It was the home of the sixteenth-century French poet Joachim du Bellay and is mentioned in his poem "Heureux qui, comme Ulysse, a fait un beau voyage".The village is situated between Nantes and Angers. There is an annual fest called "Comme dans l'temps". It takes place every last Sunday of August.

Liré was a part of French Kingdom, from the moment that Anjou was considered to be in the French kingdom too.
