The memorial complex was built on the site of a village destroyed by Nazi forces on March 22, 1943. Officially opened on July 5, 1969, the site serves as a somber tribute to the victims of the mass extermination of civilians during World War II. It is designated as a National Monument and represents the tragedy of the Belarusian people.

The architectural ensemble was designed by a team of architects, including Siarhiej Sielichanaŭ and Leanid Levin. The complex features a variety of sculptural compositions, a mass grave, and an Eternal Flame. It commemorates not only the inhabitants of this specific village but also those from other settlements destroyed during the conflict.

The site includes a museum that hosts historical exhibitions and educational programs. These facilities focus on preserving the memory of innocent civilians and the history of the genocide. The memorial is open to the public as a place of national reverence and historical reflection.
