Meransen is a village in South Tyrol and a fraction of Mühlbach municipality between Pustertal and Eisacktal at an altitude of 1,414 m above sea level.The village has circa 850 inhabitants and is situated on Mount Gitschberg which is a all-season sport region. During the winter season, the mountain is part of skiing area Gitschberg Jochtal with several lifts and an three aerial tramways. Meransen can be reached by motor vehicle or by the aerial tramway Meransner Bahn from Mühlbach.
The oldest documentation dates from 1200 as Morancin.
