MoMA

This museum, stretching over an area of more than 630 000 square feet in Midtown Manhattan, is one of the most famous places where to enjoy modern art in the world. In its collection, you can find numerous major artworks such as The Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh, The Sleeping Gypsy by Henri Rousseau, The Young Ladies of Avignon by Pablo Picasso, The Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dalí and many others.

The museum, established in 1929 by three New York women who were devoted supporters of modern art, started out as a small exhibition in a private New York flat. Thanks to a positive reception by the public, it quickly grew and expanded, not limiting the art it showcased only to paintings, either. Today, its collection includes over 150 000 pieces of modern art, photographs, drawings, sculptures, prints and many other forms of artistic expression.

Inside the museum, there are plenty of places to sit, be it The Modern, the museum's dining restaurant which was awarded two Michelin stars, or on one of the benches within the exhibition rooms. There are also wheelchairs available for borrowing and the whole museum is wheelchair-accessible.
